Instead of jumping between search results, social media pages and different websites trying to work out what’s nearby, what’s open and what a place actually looks like, we’re bringing Brisbane massage shops together in one place.

And we’re only getting started.

1. Find somewhere nearby

One of the biggest focuses of Brisbane Massage Guide is location.

If you know where you want to look, you can search by suburb. If you don’t, use Use My Location to discover massage shops near you.

When location is enabled, shops can be shown based on their distance from you, making it easier to see what’s actually nearby instead of scrolling through businesses on the other side of Brisbane.

You can combine location with other filters too, so you can narrow down your options based on what you’re looking for.

1. See who’s open

Nobody wants to find a shop they’re interested in and then discover it’s closed.

Listings can show their current opening status, including information such as:

Open now · Closes 11pm

or

Closed · Opens 9am tomorrow

or

Open 24 Hours

You can also use Open Now when searching to focus on businesses that are currently open.

1. Find a shop and contact them straight away

Brisbane Massage Guide is designed to make the process from finding a shop to contacting them as quick as possible.

When you find a business you’re interested in, you don’t need to copy phone numbers, search for their address somewhere else or jump between different websites.

From the listing, you can simply:

• Call the shop directly with one tap.

• SMS the shop directly from your phone.

• Get Directions and open the location in your maps app.

• Visit their website where one is available.

Brisbane Massage Guide doesn’t take bookings or sit between you and the business. We help you discover your options and then make it easy to contact the shop directly.

1. Browse photos before you go

We want Brisbane Massage Guide to be much more visual than a traditional business directory.

Businesses can have photo galleries showing their shop, rooms and facilities, giving visitors a better idea of the place before deciding where to go.

Photo galleries are an optional paid feature for businesses. We’ve chosen to do this because we want businesses with galleries to have a reason to keep their photos current and make sure they genuinely represent what customers can expect when they visit.

We’d rather have fewer galleries with useful, up-to-date photos than hundreds filled with old or irrelevant images.

Listings with galleries show how many photos are available, and you can use the Photos filter to specifically find businesses with more images to browse.

Sometimes you want to see the place, not just read about it.

A directory we actually manage

This is one of the biggest differences we want to bring to Brisbane Massage Guide.

We’ve all searched for a business online and found photos that don’t seem to match the actual location, opening hours that are no longer correct, old phone numbers or information that simply hasn’t been updated.

We don’t want Brisbane Massage Guide to become another directory filled with listings that nobody maintains.

That’s why businesses don’t take control of their own pages or directly edit what appears on the site.

We manage the directory.

Businesses can request changes and visitors can report information that appears to be incorrect, but updates are reviewed before they’re published.

The same applies to photos. We want images on a listing to genuinely represent the business being shown, rather than unrelated, misleading or outdated images.

It means more work for us, but we think it makes for a better directory.

Free listings — with optional advertising

A basic listing on Brisbane Massage Guide is free.

Businesses don’t have to pay simply to appear in the directory, and paying us doesn’t give a business control over the information we publish.

Businesses can, however, pay for additional visibility and optional promotional features.

That can include things such as Spotlight positions, sponsored placements, advertising banners, expanded photo galleries and other promotional opportunities.

Where something is sponsored, we want that to be clear.

Most importantly, advertising and editorial control remain separate.

Paying for advertising doesn’t allow inaccurate or misleading information to be published, and it doesn’t give an advertiser ownership of their directory page.

A simple way of putting it is:

You can pay to be seen more. You can’t pay to control what we publish.

Keeping information current

A directory is only useful if the information in it is useful.

Behind the scenes, we’re building tools to help identify listings that might need attention — whether that’s missing information, old opening hours, broken links or details that haven’t been checked for a while.

Visitors can also report incorrect information, and businesses can request an update if something about their listing has changed.

As Brisbane Massage Guide grows, the goal isn’t simply to have the most listings.

We want to build a directory people can actually rely on when deciding where to go.

Shop profiles can help you discover other businesses nearby, while Recently Viewed makes it easier to return to places you’ve already looked at.

As the directory grows, location will become an even bigger part of the experience.

Rather than simply showing everyone the same businesses in the same order, we want Brisbane Massage Guide to help you discover places that are actually relevant to where you are.

Built for Brisbane

We’re starting with Brisbane deliberately.

Rather than trying to build a massive Australia-wide directory from day one, we want to make something genuinely useful locally first.

That means continuing to add businesses across Brisbane and surrounding suburbs, improving location-based discovery and working to keep the information on the site current.
