Finding a Massage in Brisbane Shouldn’t Feel Like Searching

We’ve been making some changes to the way search works on Brisbane Massage Guide.

The idea behind it is simple:

You shouldn’t have to fill out a search form, hit Search, go back, change something and search again.

In fact, on BMG, you barely need to “search” at all.

Start typing something or select what you want, and the listings automatically react.

No Search button. No starting over.

Just start typing

Know the name of a massage shop?

Start typing it.

As you type, Brisbane Massage Guide automatically updates the listings to show you relevant results.

You don't need to type the full business name. You don't even need to press Enter.

Start typing and the results start appearing.

You don't even have to type

Don't know the name of a shop? That's fine.

Choose a suburb and the listings automatically change.

Tap Use My Location and see massage shops around you.

Select Open Now and the results update again.

Want to browse places with photos? Select Photos.

Every time you make a choice, BMG reacts to it.

You select. We show.

Mix and match

This is where it gets more useful.

You don't have to use just one option.

You could select Fortitude Valley, then switch on Open Now.

Or use My Location, choose how far you're willing to travel and then select Photos.

As you add or remove options, the shops displayed on the page change with you.

There's no need to keep hitting Search.

Definitely. I'd add it straight after “Mix and match”, because Clear Search completes that whole experience.

Clear everything and start again

Changed your mind?

Tap Clear Search and BMG instantly removes your current search, suburb, location and filters and takes you back to the full list of massage shops.

There's no page reload and no need to manually undo everything you've selected.

One tap. Everything clears. Start again.

That reinforces the whole point of the search experience:

Start typing. Start selecting. Change things. Clear everything. The results react as you go.

Find what's near you

Sometimes you don't care what suburb you're technically in — you just want to know what's nearby.

Tap Use My Location, allow location access and BMG can show massage shops around your current location.

You can choose how far you're willing to travel:

5km · 10km · 20km · 50km

The listings then update around you.

See what's open now

If you're looking for somewhere to go now rather than later, switch on Open Now.

BMG uses the opening-hour information available for each shop to narrow down the listings.

Turn it off and everything appears again.

Want to see photos first?

Switch on Photos.

The results automatically narrow to listings with photos available.

Some businesses also have larger photo galleries, giving you a better look at what they offer before deciding whether you want to contact them.

Search for specific things

We're also making more of the information within BMG searchable.

Where information has been provided for a shop, search can help you find specific things you're looking for — including facilities such as showers, couples rooms, private rooms, parking and wheelchair access.

And we're going to keep expanding this as more information is added to BMG.

Why we built it this way

Because people don't always arrive knowing exactly which massage shop they're looking for.

Sometimes all you know is:

I want somewhere nearby.

I want somewhere open now.

I want somewhere in Aspley.

I want to see photos first.

So instead of making you complete a traditional search form, Brisbane Massage Guide lets you browse, select and narrow things down as you go.
